BIOGRAPHY

Filip belongs among the most talented Slovakian pianists of his generation and is highly sought after as a soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue both internationally and at home in Denmark. Filip studied at the University of Bratislava with Prof. Marian Lapšanský graduating with a master’s in music in 2012 before being admitted to the Advanced Postgraduate Soloist Class at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Niklas Sivelov. He won 1st Prize both at the RDAM piano competition and the RDAM Soloist Competition and for the latter, performed Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2 under the baton of Giancarlo Andretta at Scandinavia’s largest classical Music Festival, Tivoli Klassik, held at the historic Tivoli Gardens. Subsequent concerto highlights include his performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.4 with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2 with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Simultaneously to his studies in Copenhagen, Filip won a scholarship to attend courses at The Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg with eminent professors, Vladimir Shakin and Sergey Maltsev. He has in addition worked with a number of renowned musicians including Ferenc Rados, Josef Kluson, András Keller, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Dmitri Bashkirov, Christian Zacharias, Robert Levin, Catherine Brown, Juhani Lagerspetz, Steven Mayer, Liisa Pohjola, Jens Elvekjær, Boris Berman. In 2019 Filip co-founded the chamber music festival, VJ Classic, in which the performers combine with live visual shows. The festival will celebrate its 5th edition in 2025 in Copenhagen. Summer 2025, festival artists are releasing album with a collection of works by Astor Piazzolla which have been programmed over several festivals.
In 2015 Filip released first his album of solo piano music consisting of works by Ravel, Scriabin and Rachmaninoff. His 2019 recordings of Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata and Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata, with prominent Danish/American cellist Jonathan Swensen were released to great acclaim in 2019. Alongside his busy performing schedule, Filip is dedicated to his piano studio class in Copenhagen. Furthermore, he is a published EDM producer having released his debut album, Subito, in 2021.
